There’s just something so satisfying about pushing a button or pulling a lever, and it’s not really something you get to do anymore. These old-school control rooms hearken from a time when workers needed to push thousands of buttons a day to do their jobs.

Take a look at these pictures and try to imagine the incredible noise of dozens of men flipping switches and twisting knobs at these control panels at the same time. It had to be one of the best sounds on Earth. This is probably the only way you’ll ever feel jealous of the workers in the control rooms at Chernobyl.
